Simple Things to Enjoy This December

November 29th, 2020

December can often end up being a busy time. We commit to back to back plans, write endless to-do lists and cram in as much as we can before the end of the year.

Not this year. Christmas during a pandemic is far from ideal, but there is one gift that we can give to ourselves this year. The time, space and opportunity to assess what is important to us. To do the things we enjoy and remove any pressure of having to celebrate the Christmas festivities in a certain way.

This year, take the chance to to appreciate and do anything you feel like doing.

Whether it's eating yule log and watching Christmas films. Starting a new tradition. Experimenting with making canapés or playing silly games.

It's the perfect opportunity to fully embrace enjoyment of the simple things. The small things that sprinkle a touch of joy to your day.

This Christmas, say goodbye to pressure and busyness and invite in peace, meaning and quiet enjoyment.

As an avid bullet journaller, there are 2 lists I would like to share with you, from my bullet journal, to help accomplish this quiet enjoyment.

The first, is of course a "simple things" list for December. If you haven't got a simple things list in your journal yet, this is the best time to write one. Think about the tiny simple pleasures that you can embrace, related to the month or the season. I included this in my December bullet journal setup. Check out the blog post and plan with me video.

The second is a "could-do" list. Not a to-do list, but a could-do list. Fun and joyful things you could do. No pressure, just a brain dump of some things you usually enjoy doing during the holidays. They could be things that make you smile, make you laugh or make you feel warm inside.

I wrote this up in my monthly planning video for December, where I share my monthly planning process and fill out the spreads that I set up for each month. Feel free to check out the full process on my YouTube channel and join me for next month's planning session!

Here's my initial brain dump:

Could-do list

Enjoy every minute of writing these lists. Half of the joy that you get from an activity is from the anticipation and build up to it. Why not build up that excitement for the simple moments that make you feel a little lighter and happier every day?

If you decide to share your positive spirit on instagram, tag me in your could-do or simple things lists. I'd love to see them and share them too.

Wishing you a merry and peaceful December.

With love,
